Registration for the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme is now open
The e-Registration facility in Revenue’s Online Service (ROS) to accept registration applications for the TBESS is open from Saturday, 26 November.
A claim portal in respect of the TBESS will be available via the eRepayments system on ROS from 5 December. Qualifying claims under the scheme will be paid once Finance Bill 2022, which contains the legislation underpinning the scheme, is enacted later in December.
The TBESS is open to businesses that:
- are tax compliant,
- carry on a Case I trade or Case II profession (including certain charities and approved sporting bodies in relation to certain activities), and
- have experienced a significant increase of 50% or more in their natural gas and electricity average unit price in the relevant bill period as compared to a corresponding reference period in the previous 12 months.
As regards the tax compliance requirement, potential applicants for the TBESS who may not already hold tax clearance are urged to apply for it on Revenue’s eTC system as soon as possible, as they will not be able to register for the scheme in the absence of tax clearance.
If you have any queries in relation to the scheme or in relation to your tax compliance status please do not hesitate to contact Cian Buckley at cian@fmaccountants.ie
